While many people living in this area depend on their personal vehicles to get to work or school, you can take the Valley Metro bus or light rail systems. It takes over an hour to walk to the ASU campus from the Hayden Park Apartments, and public transportation can take up to an hour for a one-way trip. The commute to downtown Phoenix is approximately 30 minutes in light traffic. These freeways will lead you out of town in any direction. This is also convenient for athletes, band members and coaches who may spend a lot of time at the northern practice fields.įor those often traveling outside of the Tempe area, these apartments are close to the 101 and 202 loops. This is the best route if you’re headed to the Wells Fargo Arena for an event or one of the university ball fields. Get off at North Scottsdale Road and go straight until you enter campus. If you prefer to enter campus from the north, you can take East Thomas Road to the AZ-101 loop going south. Turn left on University Drive to enter the eastern side of campus. The street name will change to North McClintock Drive after you cross over Tempe Town Lake, also known as the Salt River. The most direct route to campus is southbound on North Hayden Road. Two blocks to the west, you’ll also find Walgreen’s, Subway, Fry’s Food and Drug, Starbuck’s, Bosa Donuts and Lowe’s.The Hayden Park Apartments are located less than five miles north of the Arizona State University Tempe campus, but they have a Scottsdale, Arizona, address. ARCO, BP, Temptations and Bright Eyes are in the block to the west El Dorado Bar and Grill, Public Self Storage and Sam’s Market are in the block to the east. An auto service store, 7-11 and LA Milk Depot share the block with the apartments. Nearly all conceivable necessities and conveniences are within two blocks of The Scottsdale Belle Rive apartments. The walk will take a little more than an hour each way while cycling takes 25 minutes. With four miles separating the apartments from the university, it’s also possible to walk or bike to campus. The bus then cuts north up the western side of campus, offering a stop near the northwest corner of campus and Sun Devil Stadium. The 72 bus continues down the eastern side of campus, offering access to sites like Whiteman Tennis Center before heading west through the center of campus by the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. From there, you can catch one of the free FLASH ASU shuttles to get to other regions of campus, or you can stay on the bus. The first university-area stop is near Packard Baseball Stadium. You’ll transfer to a southbound Route 72 bus at Scottsdale and McDowell roads to access various points on campus. The bus ride lasts less than 30 minutes, picking you up at the westbound Route 17 bus stop at McDowell and Granite Reef roads. Whether you take surface roads or Pima Freeway/Loop 101 and Red Mountain Freeway/Loop 202, the drive to campus takes nine to 10 minutes.Ĭampus parking fees can be costly, though, and commuting to ASU by bus makes more sense.
